A devoted man of God, husband, father, and community leader, Derek seamlessly blends his passions into purpose for YGA. Relocating as a young military child from Ohio to Tampa, Florida, Derek is no stranger to adversity. After a few tough years, shifting homes became the norm before his parents decided to settle in Plant City, Florida for the long term. Once a graduate from Plant City High, Derek chose to attend The University of South Florida (USF) pursuing the field of engineering with a few fellow classmates - the rest was history. Approaching ten years of experience in the Power Generation & Engineering industry, Derek brings his drive, determination and dedication to transforming the lives of each participant in our programs.
Besides fathering five beautiful children with his lovely wife, Derek continues to volunteer as: Church Youth Group leader, Little League Baseball coach, small business owner, local NPO mentor, and any areas of opportunity to transform a life. Having once been in the position where most of these kids are at, Derek's ability to connect, relate and inspire hope is second-to-one. He truly weaves a narrative of purpose and love, where faith, family, and leadership converge in a raw reality.
